Governor Snyder will not be asked to disclose emergency manager candidates

DETROIT – Lawyers representing Detroit unions have agreed not to ask Gov. Rick Snyder to name past emergency manager candidates for the city during a deposition.

A hearing was set for Tuesday morning in Detroit on the issue, but an agreement was filed Monday evening with U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

Snyder's deposition is Wednesday in Lansing, while Treasurer Andy Dillon and transformation manager Richard Baird will be questioned Thursday.

The state had said that disclosing the candidates' names would violate their privacy and could damage the current jobs of some because their employers are not aware of their interest in the emergency manager job.

Bankruptcy attorney Kevyn Orr was hired by the state in March. Orr made Detroit the largest U.S. city to seek court protection when he filed for bankruptcy in July.
