St. Clair Shores armed robbery suspects sought by police

Robbers target employee at Dollar Tree store at Harper, 13 Mile roads

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – Police in Saint Clair Shores are searching for three men who robbed an employee of a Dollar Tree store the evening of Oct. 14.

Saint Clair Shores police detective Gordon Carrier said two of the men ambushed a store employee and a female friend right after the store at Harper and 13 Mile roads closed for the night.

"It was a very dangerous situation. It could have turned very violent," Carrier said.

When one of the men tried to get into the woman's car, she drove off. But another of the robbers confronted the male employee at his car, putting a gun to his head.

"He had the victim get out and they both again went through his pockets, took his wallet, cell phone and the keys to his vehicle," Carrier said.

The two robbers then joined a third partner waiting in a getaway car, which was noteworthy by its basic tan color, but primer color on one quarter panel, passenger's side door and hood.

Saint Clair Shores police have released a sketch of the one suspect, who placed the gun to the head of the victim.

He is a tall, young African-American man, with reddish hair and a light complexion.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to arrests in the case.
