DETROIT – As the family and friends of Renisha McBride attended her funeral Friday, there were mixed emotions expressed over her death.
The 19-year-old Detroit woman crashed her car on a street on Detroit's far west side early Saturday morning. When she wandered into a nearby Dearborn Heights neighborhood and knocked on a door for help, a homeowner shot and killed her.
The homeowner reportedly said he thought someone was trying to break into his home.
McBride's cousin, Krystal Bird, said she hoped there will be justice.
"My cousin didn't deserve it. She was a beautiful girl and she would not have hurt anybody. There was no threat. She didn't have any weapons or anything," Bird said.
Local 4 spoke with the man whose car was hit by McBride's car. He did not want his name used as he described what he saw immediately after the accident.
"The young lady who was driving, she seemed kind of shaken up from the accident. She was bleeding. she didn't want to stick around. We had obviously called the police and the ambulance for her, but I guess she was kind of afraid because she had been in an accident," the car owner said.
McBride walked away from the accident scene. About two blocks away, she was shot.

The National Action Network is planning protests Saturday in Detroit and New York.
McBride's aunt, Bernita Spinks, said the family is waiting until Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy decides what charges might be filed in the case.
"No matter how long it takes her, I just want her to do her job and I have faith in her , which I have faith in God and I know that she will," Spinks said.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has asked the Dearborn Heights police to resubmit a warrant request before she makes any decision about filing charges in the case.
