DTE Energy worker shot outside home on Detroit's west side

Worker in critical condition after being shot on Warrington Drive


DETROIT – A DTE Energy worker was shot near his home early Wednesday morning.

Keith Smith, 48, was shot in the head and chest just after 7 a.m. on Warrington Drive, which is near 8 Mile and Livernois.

"I heard four or five shots," said neighbor Jeron Humes. "I wish I could have been out there to help him."

Smith was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital, where he is in critical condition.

Neighbors Local 4 talked with described Smith as a good guy and friend.

Police have no suspects or clear motive and hope someone comes forward with information.

This morning, a DTE Energy employee was shot near his home near 8 Mile and Livernois in Detroit.

The employee was transported to DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. No other details are available.

The Detroit Police Department is leading the investigation into the incident.
