Testimony starts in Renisha McBride shooting case

19-year-old shot to death on Dearborn porch

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – Prosecutors are presenting evidence of the last hours before the fatal shooting of a young woman on a man's porch in suburban Detroit.

A Dearborn Heights judge is holding a hearing Wednesday to determine if there's enough evidence to send Theodore Wafer to trial on a second-degree murder charge in the death of Renisha McBride.

Carmen Beasley testified that McBride's car crashed into her parked car early on Nov. 2. Beasley went back into her house to call an ambulance but the 19-year-old McBride walked away.

Beasley says McBride was hurt and seemed "discombobulated."

Blocks away, Wafer shot McBride on his porch. His attorneys claim he feared for his life.

An autopsy found McBride was drunk and using marijuana before she was shot in the face.
