Walled Lake man shot over dog dispute described as 'kind'

Edwin Criswell killed Tuesday night

WALLED LAKE, Mich. – An argument between neighbors in Walled Lake has left one man dead.

Edwin Criswell, 45, was shot to death just before midnight Tuesday outside his home on Sigma Road. His 28-year-old neighbor has been arrested in connection with his death.

Sources tell Local 4 the men got into an argument over the neighbor's four dogs, beagles and bloodhounds.

Neighbors told Local 4 they've called police before because the dogs bark. They were recently left outside for days and a beagle bit a neighbor.

Another neighbor, Vicki Adams, said Criswell was an easy-going man who loved the Red Wings.

"I don't know what happened. I'm in shock," she said.

The gunman is a former Marine, a veteran of the Iraq war. What led to him pulling out a gun remains unclear.
