Donated Detroit ambulances to go into use Saturday morning
Gary Brown: 13 donated Detroit EMS rigs will go into service Saturday morning
DETROIT – By 11 a.m. Saturday, the city of Detroit will have 13 new ambulances on the streets, said the city's chief compliance officer, Gary Brown.
Local 4 reported earlier this week that the 13 ambulances, which had been donated to the city about two weeks ago, have been sitting unused in a parking lot behind the city's 911 dispatch center.
Brown said the rigs have to be inspected and licensed by the state.
Meanwhile, Detroit EMS drivers have been waiting with frustration. They say they have the staff ready to get these ambulances on the street.
