Pedestrian robbed at gunpoint in Grosse Pointe Woods

Man walking home from work confronted by 2 gunmen

GROSSE POINTE WOODS, Mich. – Two gunmen robbed a man Thursday in Grosse Pointe Woods as he walked home from his job at St. John Hospital.

The victim told police it was 7 p.m. Thursday evening as he walked at Bournemouth and Mack, when two black men, both in dark clothing, confronted him.

They pointed a gun at him, took his backpack and other belongings, told him to stay put in a nearby backyard, and then ran off.

Matthew Skinner of Grosse Pointe Woods was also an armed robbery victim. He said he was out for a run at this time in 2013 when he was approached by two armed men.

"I went for a run, I live on Mckinley and Charlevoix,, I made it down to about Moran, and two guys were walking down the street and stuck a gun in my face," Skinner said.

Skinner learned of the Thursday robbery and said the circumstances were only slightly different from what he experienced.

"I was in daylight, but last night, it doesn't surprise me. it's a shame," Skinner said.

The Thursday robbery victim was not able to provide a good description of the robbers. No getaway car was spotted, but police believe they headed to Harper Woods.

Anyone who might have witnessed the robbery or has information about the robbers is asked to call the Grosse Pointe Park police.
