Ficano delivers State of Wayne County address

DEARBORN, Mich. – Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano delivered his State of the County address Tuesday night in front of a crowd at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn.

It was his 12th State of the County address.

He acknowledged the county is dealing with financial problems but insisted he is doing whatever it takes to turn things around. He also discussed the drastic deficit reduction plan put together by the county's new chief financial officer.

When it came to the failed Wayne County jail project, which wasted about $100 million, Ficano insisted he is working on turning that challenge into an opportunity.

He called Wayne County the "comeback county," saying it is where the majority of the state's new jobs are located. he said he is working tirelessly to bring in even more jobs.
