Strip club in downtown Detroit catches fire

No one hurt when blaze breaks out at three-story building at Griswold and Grand River

DETROIT – A strip club in downtown Detroit went up in flames early Wednesday morning.

The Grind, a three-story building on Griswold Street near Grand River Avenue, caught fire at 5 a.m.

Fire Chief John King said no one was hurt, but the heavy smoke set off alarms at nearby apartments, causing them to briefly be evacuated.

"Everything is contained right here. Our only fear right now is how long it's going to take us to put this out without causing conflict with businesses along this stretch," King said.

King said the cause is still being investigated.
