Macomb Township woman accused of shooting up ex-boyfriend's SUV

Police say Jessica Vanover opened fire on man's vehicle at Carriage Way mobile home park in Chesterfield Township

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 25-year-old Macomb Township woman is accused of shooting her ex-boyfriend's sport utility vehicle at about 8:45 a.m. Thursday while it was parked in his driveway in the 52200 block of Lexington Lane in Chesterfield Township.

Chesterfield Township police officers responded to several 911 calls from people living in the Carriage Way mobile home park. The callers said they heard multiple gunshots and described the suspected shooter's vehicle as a green Pontiac Grand Am. They said the vehicle had fled from the front of the home on Lexington Lane.

Police went to the home where a 39-year-old man showed fresh bullet holes in his Ford Escape. He said he was sleeping when the gunfire erupted and he suspected his ex-girlfriend was responsible for it. He also told police she drives a green Pontiac Grand Am.

Macomb County sheriff's deputies quickly caught up with Jessica Vanover at a home on Catalpa Boulevard in Macomb Township. They took her into custody along with her Grand Am and 9mm semiautomatic handgun. The gun was seized and the vehicle was impounded.

Vanover faces several charges including carrying a concealed weapon, a dangerous weapon charge, discharging a firearm from inside a vehicle and carelessly discharging a firearm causing damage.

If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison.

She is being held at the Macomb County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
