Cyclist suffers serious injuries after being hit by car

MONROE, Mich. – The Monroe County Sheriff Department is searching for a driver that hit a bicyclist then fled the scene Friday night.

The accident happened right before midnight on Telegraph Road just south of 7^th Street in Monroe Township. Deputies say 39-year-old Johnathon Abercrombie was riding his bicycle southbound on the shoulder of Telegraph Road when he was struck by a dark colored sedan. The vehicle did not stop and continued southbound.

Mr. Abercrombie was transported to a local hospital where he is recovering from serious injuries. Deputies are still searching for the suspect vehicle.
