Ferndale police: Gunman tries to rob doctor's office

No one hurt in attempted robbery March 24 at building on Livernois Avenue

FERNDALE, Mich. – Ferndale police are looking for a masked gunman who tried to rob a doctor's office, but only got away with a blank prescription pad.

Police said the incident happened March 24, when the gunman first pointed a pistol at a receptionist in the building, which is in the 800 block of Livernois Avenue, and demanded money. When the receptionist said she didn't have any, the gunman went into an examination room and pointed the pistol at a doctor.

Police said when the doctor told the gunman there wasn't any money in the office, the gunman grabbed a blank prescription pad and ran out.

No one was hurt.

Police said the incident was caught on building security cameras, and that the footage shows the gunman stopping outside the door of the office to pull down his mask and take out the gun.

Police also said that just moments before the gunman entered the building, another man had gone in and asked if the office was still open. Police said they suspect he was involved in the crime, too.

Anyone with information on the men in the pictures are asked to call Ferndale police at 248- 541-3650.
