DETROIT – The family of Steve Utash of Clinton Township say he may be heading home in a matter of days.
Utash was beaten by a large group on Detroit's east side when he stopped to check on a boy who ran in front of his pickup truck and was hit.

Utash spent several weeks in a coma after the attack. He has been in a rehabilitation facility, but his family says he is making progress and is nearly back to being his old self.
The family released a photo Tuesday showing Utash with his daughters.
Four men and a juvenile are facing charges in the beating.
