Alcohol may have been factor in accident

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Sheriff Antohony Wickersham reports that Bruce Randall Christy, of Columbus, Michigan, is facing charges of failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in a death, unlawful use of a license plate, and attempted resisting and obstructing of a police officer.

Randall allegedly fled from the scene after hitting and killing a 25-year-old Lenox Township woman while she was riding her bike along Gratiot Avenue on Thursday.

The accident occurred near 27 Mile Road, but police say Randall, the driver of the Geo Tracker that hit the woman, ran on foot before being arrested. He was found hiding under a blanket in the back of a motor home about a mile away from the scene of the crash.

It is believed that alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.

The investigation is continuing.
