Clawson police release picture of bank robber

Man gets away with cash from Key Bank on 14 Mile Road; Crime also prompted brief lockdown of area schools

CLAWSON, Mich. – Clawson police have released the picture of man who robbed a bank Wednesday, prompting the lockdown of area schools.

Police said the man targeted Key Bank on 14 Mile Road near Custer Avenue just before 2 p.m., handing the note a teller demanding cash and indicating he had a gun.

No one was hurt, but the man got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

As a precaution, police and the school district locked down the high school, middle school and two elementary schools while officers searched for the robber. But he was never found.

Police describe the robber as white, 5 feet 5 inches with brown hair and a scruffy beard, thin build, in his 40s. He was wearing a "Dickie" sweatshirt, Tigers baseball cap and blank pants.
