James Brown Jr., of Newport, was driving the minivan, a 1998 Ford Windstar. He was pronounced dead at the crash scene. He did not have any passengers.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the driver of the truck lost control on the southbound side of Telegraph Road just north of Monroe Street. The truck crossed into the northbound lanes, striking Brown's Windstar.

The 31-year-old driver of the truck was not injured. Both he and Brown were wearing seatbelts.

The Sheriff's Office does not believe alcohol was a factor in this crash, which remains under investigation.
