Northville Township police: Mom catches man putting cellphone under daughter's dress

Police release picture of man seen in Barnes and Noble bookstore on Sept. 5

NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Northville Township police have released the picture of a man who they said put his cellphone under the dress of a 13-year-old girl in a bookstore.

Police said the girl's mother called 911 on Sept. 5 to report that she saw a man kneel behind her daughter and put his cell phone between her legs while she stood at a computer at the Barnes and Noble store on Haggerty and Six Mile roads.

The mother confronted the man, but he fled in a small green pickup truck, police said.

"This is brazen. It's in a public place in the middle of the day where people are around," said Det. Sgt. Paul Tennies. "It violates someone if they're an adult or not, but now we add that there is a child involved which raises the level of concern."

Anyone with information on the man in the picture is asked to call police at 248-349-9400.
