Royal Oak police: Woman caught stealing flees, crashes

Suspect crashes in Clawson after allegedly stealing pots from Meijer store

CLAWSON, Mich. – A woman who was caught stealing Wednesday morning from store led officers on a chase before crashing, Royal Oak police said.

Police said the woman took off after being confronted about stealing pots from the Meijer store at Coolidge Highway and Meijer Drive.

Police said the woman sped out of the parking lot in a black Crown Victoria and went east on Meijer Drive toward Crooks Road.

She drove through the intersection, ignoring a red light, and was hit by an SUV that was going north on Crooks Road.

Todd Karew's wife's Dodge Avenger and another car were also hit.

"She saw it coming up Meijer Drive. She said, ‘Well, they are not going to stop. They are not stopping.' So, she put her hand across my daughter's chest," Karew said.

The suspect, 44-year-old Edana Evette Moorer, was arrested and taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
