Cory Elementary in Romulus evacuated for smoke

Parents being asked to pick up students

ROMULUS, Mich. – Parents are being asked to pick up their students at Cory Elementary in Romulus after the building was evacuated because of smoke.

A spokesperson for the school district told Local 4 the smoke was caused by an issue with the building's heating and cooling system.

About 50 students in two preschool programs at the elementary building are being sent home.

The school is at 35200 Smith Road, which is off Wayne Road between Ecorse and Wick roads.
