Detroit police officer arrested in alleged road rage case

12-year veteran taken into custody Friday by Birmingham police

He is being linked to a road rage incident.

An off-duty Detroit police officer was arrested Friday in connection with an alleged road rage incident involving a gun.

Birmingham police said the incident was reported to their department around 7 p.m. and involved two vehicles going southbound on Woodward Avenue near Maple Road.

The suspect's vehicle was stopped by Royal Oak police and the 43-year-old driver, a Wixom resident, identified himself as a Detroit police officer. A semi-automatic handgun was found and the officer was taken into custody by Birmingham police.

The 12-year veteran of the Detroit Police Department was processed and released.

The case will be handed over to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office for the determination of any charges.

The Detroit Police Department declined to comment to Local 4.
