Woman charged in razor blade attack on Detroit police officer
DETROIT – A 33-year-old woman faces several charges including assault with intent to murder while she's accused of attacking a Detroit police officer with a razor blade.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says Angel Birch used the razor to cut the officer multiple times in the face Saturday morning at a home in the 19300 block of Santa Rosa. Police originally went to the home to investigate the report of a suspicious person.
Birch came to the door and "failed to comply with the officers," according to the Prosecutor's Office. That's when she allegedly cut the officer.
In a addition to the assault with intent to murder charge, Birch is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felonious assault and resisting and obstructing causing serious impairment, resisting and obstructing causing injury and two counts of resisting and obstructing police.
She was arraigned Monday and is being held on a $25,000 cash/surety bond. Her preliminary examination is scheduled for Dec. 19.
