Some flurries, mostly cloudy Thursday

Highs in the upper 20s

DETROIT – A partial break from the snow is in store for the next two days. Thursday will have only a few flurries. Friday will have some sun. Both days will be cold.

Thursday morning will be cloudy and cold with temperatures in the low 20s. Snowfall from Wednesday will keep side-streets and untreated parking lots, ramps, bridges and overpasses slippery and tougher to navigate for morning motorists. Students must be careful walking to and from school and the bus stop. A few lingering flurries may dot the landscape.

Thursday afternoon will be mostly gray with scattered flurries. Temps remain below freezing. Highs will be in the upper 20s. Fortunately, with continued road usage and treatment, the ride home will be a bit smoother.

Thursday evening will be mostly cloudy and cold. Temps will be near 25 degrees. 2015 Auto Show visitors will still need to bundle up outside Cobo Hall.

Thursday night will be partly cloudy and very cold. Overnight lows will be in the middle and upper teens.

Some sunshine will appear Friday. This, coupled with highs in the low 30s, will facilitate some thawing. The weekend will become gray again with snow showers. Highs on Saturday will be near 35 degrees. Sunday will have a better chance of snow flakes with temps back in the 20s. Colder air returns early next week with highs near 25 and lows in the middle and lower teens.
