DETROIT – A Detroit mother is facing murder and child abuse charges in connection with her 3-year-old daughter's death.
Jasmine Gordon, 24, is charged with felony murder, second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse. Her boyfriend, 33-year-old Clifford Daniel Thomas, is facing the same charges. He is also charged with resisting and obstructing a police officer.

They have already been bound over to stand trial, and will be arraigned next Wednesday.
Jamila Smith, the 3-year-old girl, was taken to Henry Ford Hospital by her mother on the night of Sept. 18, 2014 around 9 p.m. The child had been brought into the emergency room and was dead upon arrival.
The girl appeared to have been suffering from bruises on the head and chest, which are consistent with abuse.
