1 killed in Shelby Township crash Sunday

Alcohol believed to be factor in crash

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police say a 60-year-old man from Shelby Township was killed Sunday morning in a two-car crash on 23 Mile Road.

Police arrived at 23 Mile Road between Ryan and Shelby Roads at around 3:44 a.m. and found the victim unresponsive in a 2005 Chrysler 300. The 21-year-old Troy man inside the second car, a 1999 Mercury SUV, was also unresponsive.

The Shelby Township Fire Department got both drivers out of their cars. Both victims were taken to Troy Beaumont Hospital, where the 60-year-old man was pronounced dead. The other driver is being treated for serious injuries.

Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the accident.
