DETROIT – A man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend, whose body was found next to her baby daughter in a Detroit home.

Lorenzo McNeil's guilty plea is part of a plea deal. Charges of child abuse, child abandonment and larceny against McNeil were dismissed. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 13.

Chamanek Johnson was found stabbed to death in April 2014 in her home on Hazelwood Street. Her then 8-month-old daughter was also found in a nearby crib. The baby was treated for dehydration, but wasn't hurt.

Prosecutors said McNeil and Johnson sometimes lived together in the home, but he is not the baby's father.
