No charges filed against Wayne teacher accused of sexual assault

Prosecutor's office says there's insufficient evidence to support allegations

DETROIT – The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has denied a warrant request for charges against a Roosevelt McGrath teacher accused of sexually assaulting students in his class.

A complaint was made March 11 to Wayne Police by a 7-year-old boy's relative, alleging that the boy and two other male students in the teacher's class were sexually assaulted by the male teacher two days earlier while in the boy's bathroom at school.

Wayne police submitted security tapes from the school, interviews of child and adult witnesses, and other evidence to the prosecutor's office.

After reviewing the evidence, conducting independent interviews and completing the warrant review process, the prosecutor's office said it determined that there is insufficient evidence to support any criminal charges.
