Authorities launch initiative to arrest fugitives in Monroe County

Crime Stoppers partners with Monroe County prosecutor

MONROE, Mich. – A joint initiative between Crime Stoppers and the Monroe County prosecutor's office is being launched in an effort to take fugitives off the streets.

The initiative is a collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Service, the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team and the Monroe County Probation and Parole Unit, which will assist local police departments in targeting individuals with warrants for offenses ranging from homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, home invasion, sexual assault and more.

The initiative will have an online reporting element in which residents of Monroe County to provide information safely and anonymously.

"The message is simple:  Felons with outstanding arrest warrants need to know that their crimes will not be forgotten," Monroe County Prosecutor William Paul Nichols said. "Law enforcement is constantly looking for these fugitives and we appreciate the assistance of Crime Stoppers and the public in this effort."
