Man arrested for operating while intoxicated causing death

TROY, Mich. – Troy police say a 49-year-old man from Rochester Hills has been charged with operating while intoxicated causing death after he caused a car crash that killed another person.

Officers say a gray Chevy pickup truck was driving northbound in the right lane of I-75 when it was hit from behind by a black Cadillac. The impact caused the truck to veer into the northbound lanes and get hit by a black GMC pickup truck.

The Chevy continued into the median ditch and rolled over, according to authorities.

Police say the driver of the Chevy was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital and is in good condition. The passenger, the only other person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cadillac and GMC stopped near the scene of the crash. Both drivers were taken to the hospital and are in good condition.

Police say the driver of the Cadillac was treated and released from the hospital. He was administered a breath test at the scene of the crash and had a .108 BAC.

After his arrest, he was released pending investigation.
