Teen raped as Detroit police warn of attempted abductions

DETROIT – A 14-year-old girl was dragged into an alley Tuesday near Livernois Avenue and Cortland Street in Detroit.

She was raped by a man wearing a mask. The young girl was taken to Henry Ford Hospital.

Police also are investigating four attempted abductions of girls aged 14-17 just a few miles away from where Tuesday's attack happened. Young teen girls are being targeted as they walk to school by a predator trying to drag them into his car.

There have been four attempted abductions within days. The first was May 13 at Westwood and Joy on Detroit's west side. The same man tried grabbing that teen the next day.

On May 14 at Westwood and Westfield three girls were approached by a man who exposed himself. Then on May 15 at Westwood and West Chicago a man tried grabbing and pulling a teen into his car.

Detroit police believe all four attempted abductions are connected. They believe a sexual predator is on the loose. He has this community scared for their children.

Police are looking for two sexual predators. The man involved in the four attempted abduction cases is described as black man between the ages of 30-40. He is about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds and has a black goatee. He was wearing a black baseball cap, black jacket and blue jeans. Witnesses report he has a scar on his cheek and drives a black Ford Focus with dark rims.

Detroit police say they will find and capture this man for terrorizing these young girls.
