Metro Detroit weather forecast: Showers tonight, storms Thursday

DETROIT – Our little mid-week break from wet weather has come and gone.

Showers will be around tonight, especially in the near-northern suburbs. These should contain just rain. There's not a lot of instability out there so thunder should hold off until Thursday (more on that below). Expect to be dry early Friday morning, prior to sunrise. Humidity will slowly creep back up tonight and through tomorrow.

Thursday forecast:

On Thursday, we'll see thunderstorms fire in the mid-to-late afternoon. There is a slight risk for severe weather south of Detroit. The biggest threat will be from damaging winds. There is less moisture for these storms to work with than we saw over the past several days, so our flooding threat looks to be minimal.

Friday forecast:

Friday looks gorgeous, but cooler. Humidity drops again and temperatures may not make it out of the 60s in some spots. But expect to see sunshine almost the entire day.

Weekend forecast:

The weekend forecast right now is a bit up in the air (no pun intended). Saturday could bring a shower late, but most of the day is looking dry. High temperatures still below average in the mid-70s. Unfortunately Father's Day will feature more than one shot at getting wet: a morning shower then a few storms in the afternoon.

It still looks dry and pleasant for the Ford Fireworks on Monday before storm chances return on Tuesday.
