Detroit police investigating homeowner's shooting on city's southwest side

Man shot in the arm by intruders

DETROIT – Detroit police are investigating the shooting of a 41-year-old man early Wednesday morning in his home on the city's southwest side.

Police said the man told them someone got into the house through an open back door and shot him in the hand in his bedroom.

He's being treated at Henry Ford Hospital -- and is expected to be OK.

At least seven other people were in the home at the time of the shooting, but were not hurt.

Brian, one of the people who lives in the home, said he has no idea why anyone would want to harm the homeowner.

"There's no reason. Nobody was after him, nobody's after us. I don't know what's going around. It's a little crazy that it happened," he said.
