Father of 11-year-old boy accused of killing toddler charged with manslaughter

DETROIT – Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has filed charges against the father of an 11-year-old boy accused of killing a 3-year-old boy with a handgun earlier this month.

Curry Bryson was arraigned Monday in 36th District Court on several felonies including manslaughter and child abuse. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. His bond was set at 10 percent of $10,000.

It is alleged that Bryson owned and stored in a "grossly negligent manner" the firearm that his son used to shoot and kill 3-year-old Elijah Walker.

The 11-year-old also has been charged with manslaughter. He is scheduled to be in court on Wednesday for a pretrial hearing.
