CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 49-year-old man will be issued a ticket for running over and killing several geese in Clinton Township.

Capt. Richard Maierle said the Warren man, whose name is not yet being released, will not be criminally charged. Instead, he will be issued a civil infraction for failure to use due care and caution. The infraction carries a penalty of two points on the driver's license and a fine.

Maierle said there is an 8-second video that was reviewed and the Macomb County prosecutor's office was consulted regarding the case.

The incident happened July 30 on Gratiot Avenue at Wellington Crescent. Police said a vehicle drove through a flock of more than two dozen geese, and didn't stop. Several geese died.
