Driver, officer injured in crash in Ypsilanti

YPSILANTI, Mich. – An investigation is underway after a crash Friday evening involving a driver and an Ypsilanti police officer.

Surveillance video shows a 2001 Nissan turning left at Michigan Avenue and Washington Street around 7 p.m.

At that moment, an officer responding to a robbery call goes through the intersection and slams into the car.

In the video, it appears that the officer's emergency lights are not on.

The officer and driver were hurt, but are expected to survive. The driver is a 26-year-old Milan resident.

Michigan State Police are handling the investigation.
