Thieves smash van into clothing store in west Detroit

Store owner says thieves grabbed $10,000-$15,000 worth of clothing

DETROIT – Thieves smashed a van into a clothing store early Monday morning on Detroit's west side.

The building on Greenfield Road near Schoolcraft was badly damaged. The store owner told Local 4 the thieves made off with a lot of merchandise.

"They took anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000 of merchandise and they damaged probably another $10,000 to $15,000. I got to really check the value. They pulled the van out so I really don't know everything yet," said Keith Owens, store owner.

Owens said he has insurance and he plans to have the building repaired and keep the business at this location.

Police have not made any arrests. Anyone with information on this crime needs to contact Detroit police.
