Forecast: Mostly sunny skies on Wednesday in metro Detroit

DETROIT – Despite some early clouds, sunshine has won out again, and boosted temperatures even higher than our Monday maxes.

Now that we're in the 80s, we'll stay there for afternoon numbers through almost the entire work week.

Overnight, skies will be mostly clear with a light breeze. Any mid/high clouds moving in from Indiana should fade by midnight. Temperatures will drop to the mid-to-upper 50s by daybreak.

Wednesday forecast:

Wednesday, should be very similar to today, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 80s. Thursday will be even warmer while keeping the sunshine around.

Friday forecast:

Friday will finally bring a shot at rain. At that point it will have been a week since we picked up measurable rain. Expect mainly showers with a few rumbles of thunder. Those showers should begin before noon, and that will keep high temperatures in the upper 70s to around 80.

Weekend forecast:

Saturday, another wave of rain with a few thunderstorms will move through. Temperatures will drop again, pushing highs to the mid 70s.

Sunday will remain dry. Sunshine will return, but with a cooler airmass in place, highs will only make the upper 60s. Then we'll steadily see temperatures increase early next week.
