GROSSE POINTE, Mich. – Michelle Weiner knows all about crimes of opportunity -- her husband was just a victim.
"He was at the Kroger with my son and left his wallet in the front part of the shopping cart, and it got stolen," she said.
With that and recent thefts at and around Elworthy Field, this mom is staying on guard.
"We are here like every day because that is the first thing he says when he wakes up in the morning is, 'park,'" she said.
Police say last week someone stole a woman's credit card out of a diaper bag at the playground and strangely left a $50 bill behind.
On Sept. 6 over at the tennis courts, police say an iPhone 6 was taken. Just a couple days before, right across the street outside the Grosse Pointe Neighborhood Club, a bike was reported stolen.
Police are warning people to keep a closer eye on their surroundings and belongings. Thieves love an easy steal.
