Man carjacks driver at Detroit gas station, uses crowbar as weapon

DETROIT – A driver fired shots in retaliation against a carjacker Tuesday morning on Detroit's east side.

Police said the 42-year-old driver was putting air in his tires at a BP gas station at East Outer Drive and Harper Avenue when the carjacker jumped into the car and started to drive off.

The driver fired shots at the car and it crashed into a nearby pole, police said.

The carjacker then got out and confronted the driver with a crowbar before fleeing the scene.

Police didn't say whether the carjacker was hit by the gunfire. They also have not released a detailed description of him.
