Trio rob student Sunday night on Washtenaw Avenue, campus police say

YPSILANTI, Mich. – An Eastern Michigan University student was robbed Sunday night at gunpoint by three men, according to a statement from campus police.

The student was approached by the trio in the 900 block of Washtenaw Avenue, south of campus.

One of the men pulled out a gun and robbed the student before the trio fled west on Cross Street, police said.

Ypsilanti police responded and searched the area, but didn't find the robbers.

Police said the student old them he had been walking from Summit Street and thought the men had followed him.

The following are the descriptions of the robbers released by police:

  • Black male between 17 and 22 years old, medium complexion, about 5 foot 9 inches to 5 feet to 11 inches tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. (Pointed black handgun at the victim).
  • Black male between 17 and 22 years old, medium complexion, about 5 foot 9 inches to 5 feet to 11 inches tall. He was wearing a red Chicago Bulls sweatshirt and dark pants.
  • Black male between 17 and 22 years old, medium complexion, 5 foot 9 inches to 5 feet to 11 inches tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.
