Could NFL fans in Detroit get a treat Sunday?

Hurricane may force Eagles, Redskins to play at Ford Field

DETROIT – Hurricane Joaquin and its high winds and heavy winds may move this Sunday's Redskins vs. Eagles game to Ford Field in Detroit, according to the NFL Network.

No final decision has been made and Local 4's call to the Detroit Lions was met with silence.

In the past five years, two games have been moved to Ford Field because of weather woes. In 2010, snow caved in the Metrodome in Minnesota and the Vikings vs. Giants game was relocated to Ford Field.

Last season, it was a Bills vs. Jets game that was moved because Buffalo was buried under feet of snow. In the case of the Buffalo game, free tickets were offered here in metro Detroit. The move is a possibility because the Lions aren't scheduled to play until Monday night in Seattle.
