Man charged in Motor City Casino carjacking faces trial

DETROIT – Wayne Darrell Jones of Redford was bound over for trial on charges of carjacking two women as they were leaving Motor City Casino last month.

Jones waived a preliminary exam Monday morning in 36th District Court. He will be arraigned on Oct. 13 in Wayne County Circuit Court.

According to prosecutors, Jones carjacked a 68-year-old Sterling Heights woman and a 78-year-old Clinton Township woman on Sept. 17. He is alleged to have entered the car with the two women and pulled out a hand gun.

He then demanded money and took their purses. The women were then ordered to drive to a field near Schoolcraft and Appoline Street and ordered he ordered out of the car. The robber then drove away.

The women walked approximately two miles until they met a good Samaritan who helped them to safety at the Second Police Precinct.
