The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Internment will be at the Mt. Elliot Cemetery.

Madrigal's body was found Sunday in his westside home on Vaughn Street. The Medical Examiner's Office said he died from blunt force trauma to the head.

The 59-year-old had been a firefighter for 24 years and was known as “Super Dave” by his colleagues at Engine 33.

“Dave was exceptional. In every situation, he stepped above and beyond to try to be there for someone else. That’s what we remember,” said Lt. James Edwards.

Local 4 has learned that an upstairs bedroom was ransacked and a safe is missing. But police have not released a description of anyone that they might be looking for in connection to the death.
