Woman taken off plane in Detroit to appear in court

22-year-old woman charged with assault

A 22-year-old woman who had to be tied up and carried off a plane after it was diverted to Detroit Metropolitan Airport will appear in court Tuesday for a detention hearing.

Federal authorities said Breanna Farquharson attacked flight attendants and a passenger during a United Airlines flight on Jan. 7 from New York to Chicago. Crew members and passengers had to subdue her.

The airplane landed in Detroit where Farquharson was hauled off and arrested. She was supposed to appear in court last week but that hearing was canceled due to her erratic behavior.

She is facing assault charges.
