Dogs left in trash bag behind Woodhaven Walmart

WOODHAVEN, Mich. – Police are investigating are a trash bag full of young dogs was discovered Thursday morning behind a Walmart in Woodhaven.

An employee found the bag behind the Walmart around 9:30. She was surprised when the bag started moving.

A photo was posted to social media showing the puppies in a shopping cart.

“These little guys were found in a garbage bag in the back of my Walmart this morning,” Jeff Napier said in a Facebook post. “Just heartless.”

The Woodhaven and Trenton Animal Shelter is closed, but updated animal lovers on its Facebook page with the following message:

“All of these puppies are safe being checked out by the vets. The police are investigating every aspect. I will keep you posted as information becomes available. If anyone knows these sweet lil pups or has any information to help catch who did this please call the police at 734-676-7337.”

The shelter said the dogs were not microchipped.
