Video: Deputy suffers broken hand when car slides out of control in Pontiac

Deputy was on roadway helping with crash near Martin Luther King, Pike Street

PONTIAC, Mich. – A 37-year-old Oakland County deputy is recovering after being hit by a car that slid out of control Tuesday morning on an icy road in Pontiac. 

The Sheriff's Office said the 12-year veteran was near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Pike Street assisting with a crash when a Chevy Impala lost control and hit him while he was in the roadway. The deputy suffered a broken left hand and cuts to the side of his body. 

The Sheriff's Office said a 22-year-old driver was cited for driving too fast in the icy conditions.
