15-year-old accused of starting fire in bathroom at Anchor Bay High School

Fire contained to bathroom, no injuries reported

IRA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 15-year-old boy is in custody for allegedly starting a fire Monday in a bathroom at Anchor Bay High School, the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff Tim Donnellon said the freshman was interviewed in his New Haven home and then taken to the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center. Donnellon said there was video of the hallway outside the bathroom which helped investigators identify the suspect.

The fire was contained to the bathroom, and no injuries were reported, but the school was evacuated and students were sent home early.
