Man charged in attempted abduction of 12-year-old girl in Eastpointe

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A 65-year-old Sterling Heights man is charged after a 12-year-old girl was nearly abducted Tuesday afternoon in Eastpointe. 

The girl was walking home from Kelly Middle School around 3:30 p.m. when she encountered the suspect in the area of Gratiot and Bell.

The suspect was driving a green Dodge Challenger and pulled up next to the girl. He then made vulgar comments and tried to get the girl into his car.

A passerby saw what was happening and scared the suspect off.

The suspect was described as a larger while male, in his 40's with a gray beard.

Police said Wednesday evening that a 65-year-old Sterling Heights man is in custody and that he is cooperating with the investigation. He is expected to be arraigned on charges Thursday, police said. 

"We would like to thank the citizens who called after witnessing this incident. As always, if you see something, say something," Eastpointe police said in a statement. 

Mil Marinkovski is charged with accosting a child for an immoral purpose, which is a four-year felony. He was arraigned Thursday and received a $50,000 cash/surety bond.
