DirectTV recently conducted a survey asking 2,000 people what's a lie versus a white lie.

The survey was conducted in conjunction with an exclusive showing of "The Program", a movie about Lance Armstrong's deception.

The cable company wanted to determine what lies people thought were most severe and which ones they told most often.

Some of the lies people said they told the most include the "I'm sick" lie, which 78% of people surveyed said they have told at some point. Also, about 92% of those polled said they have told the "I'm fine" lie, even though they were not.

South Dakota, New Mexico and New Hampshire top the list of the states where told lies are supposedly the most severe.
