Changes coming to public transportation

New changes and proposed improvements could be made to transportation services in and around Detroit.

DDOT hopes to improve the runtimes on seven routes in April including the Grand River line where riders currently wat an hour or more for weekend service. The goal is to have buses run every 20 minutes and DDOT is planning a new route.

One service DDOT is purposing is to Belle Isle.

The Regional Transit Authority wants rapid buses running in their own lanes which will operate from Detroit to Ann Arbor, Mt. Clemens and Pontiac.

There is also a push to develop a commuter rail from Detroit to Ann Arbor, but the plan is in its infancy.
